Turtle sees all, so do be on your best behavior.
Founded in 2020 after careful deliberation, LGBTurtle Creek, LLC. is designed to increase visibility and accountability for LGBT+ other minority communities in the Oak Lawn District in a way that encourages peace and understanding while increasing accountability.
Undeniable advances in civil rights have occurred in the United States since the legalization of marriage in 2015, despite recent political setbacks. But there’s still important work to do and it requires a new approaches to political challenges.
Coming to Oak Lawn is a special escape for those who visit from other cities and states. Although the city of Dallas protected LGBT+ folks from housing and employment discrimination before the Supreme Court, the State of Texas and many surrounding cities had failed to pass legislation that would protect those outside of Dallas from housing and employment discrimination.
Keeping the LGBT+ community and other groups visible and relevant is so important to us, it’s embedded in our name. And what’s in a name? A name is only a name, so we have been told.
You never know what the future holds. Does anyone? But there’s something about tomorrow that keeps us in suspense 💚🐢
